Chiropractor J. Scranton D.C.

Chiropractor South Jordan UT J. Scranton

Dr. J. was a patient before he became the Chiropractor. He has been blessed personally by chiropractic care, and wants to pass that on to his patients. He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA and spent his early 20’s working in the corporate world.

During that time, he experienced severe low back trauma and wasn’t able to stand for more than a few minutes before the pain became excruciating. This prevented him from doing many of the things that he enjoyed doing, especially physical activities like basketball, tennis, and golf.

He sought help in the form of chiropractic. It took four chiropractors to determine what the cause of his condition was, but he is very thankful that he stuck with it. Fortunately, the fourth Chiropractor was much different in his approach. He took X-rays, showed Dr. J. where his problem was at, and was the first Dr. to talk about truly correcting the problem. Along the way, he learned that while chiropractic helps correct the cause of things like neck and back pain, it is much bigger than just that. He learned that misaligned bones in the spine can cause pressure on the nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the muscles and organs of the body. Pressure on these nerves can potentially lead to any number of health conditions, including asthma, acid reflux, constipation, and fibromyalgia. After experiencing the pain relief as well as understanding the “bigness” of chiropractic, Dr. J. knew he wanted to be a Chiropractor.

In 2005, he enrolled at the oldest and most prestigious chiropractic school in the world, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. While a student at Palmer, he became an intern at the renowned Troxell Intern Program, which focuses exclusively on learning and teaching the Gonstead Chiropractic method. It was a Gonstead practitioner who corrected his condition, and he wanted to help others by using this highly specialized technique. As an intern, he spent countless hours in the evenings and weekends learning about the Gonstead method. He gave back and taught the method to other students after graduating. Also during his time at Palmer, Dr. J. took advantage of the opportunity to help others by traveling to India where he had the opportunity to help restore health to hundreds of children and adults.

Dr. J. is committed to providing caring and superior care to his patients, both young and old. His corrective and wellness oriented approach to health also includes measurable spinal correction. When he’s not in the office or out in the community spreading the message of chiropractic through spinal health screenings or health talks, Dr. J. enjoys spending time with his wife Tara, traveling, reading about natural health, and going to seminars. He also enjoys playing those sports he wasn’t able to for many years, tennis, golf, and of course, basketball. After all, when you’re 6’7” and your name is Dr. J., you have to play basketball, right?
